Local girls to play for state championship on March 10
In an exciting semifinal game at Bothell High School Feb. 24, the girls' U-12 Shooting Stars soccer team beat Emerald City and won the right to play in the finals for the Washington State Youth Soccer Association Championship Cup to be held at noon on March 10 at Federal Way Stadium. In the twelfth minute of Saturday's game, Emma Stolz, a sixth grader at Hollywood Hill Elementary School, scored the winning goal in the 1-0 victory. The 16-girl team includes Jill Erickson, Hannah Greig, Cleo Jenkins, Libby Sorg and Emma Stolz of Woodinville and Erin Barclay, Erin Ehrmantraut and Kali Elmenhurst of Bothell. They are coached by Bothell resident, Brad Elmenhurst.
The tournament began in January and the girls have won five games to reach this level.
