TMS students offer comfort with teddy bears
CARNATION - When Ms. Oswald's Advisory class was presented with the question, "What would you like our class to do in order to conduct a successful community service project," they thought of the scared children who are involved in emergency situations and proposed that Tolt Middle School students donate to a teddy bear drive for the Carnation Fire Department. Donation boxes were created and placed around the school. At last count, 221 stuffed animals have been contributed. Ms. Oswald's Advisory students will be presenting the stuffed animals to the fire department the first week in March.
Last fall, the students in Ms. Oswald's social studies class were studying Central American countries when the first earthquake occurred in El Salvador. The major 7.6 earthquake devastated many homes and villages.
The students, wishing to do something for the survivors, conducted a penny drive at Tolt. Students and staff generously contributed a total of $236.09.
