Obituary: Hilda Riechman

Hilda Riechman, age 84, died at her home in Carnation on March 27.
   She was born to Peter and Lena Siegenthaler in Duvall on August 15, 1916. She attended Pleasant Hill Grade School, graduating from Tolt High School in 1934. She received her RN nursing degree from Everett General.
   In 1939 she married Edward Riechman in Everett where they raised their family. Hilda worked with Ed in the Valley Canning Company for many years; also was active with her nursing career, working at Snoqualmie Falls Hospital, North Bend Nursing Home and was a private nurse to many in the Snoqualmie Valley.
   Hilda loved people and was very active in her community. She was a member of Lone Star Rebekah Lodge #141, the Tolt Congregational Church and Sno-Valley Senior Center. Many will remember her sitting by the door at the center taking money for their monthly steak dinners, which are fund-raisers.
   Gardening, baking, receiving and writing letters and cards were her many hobbies that she enjoyed. Her greatest love was her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
   Surviving are: Sons, Carl (Mary) Riechman of Bonney Lake, Wash., Larry (Sherry) Riechman of Carnation, Joseph (Maggie) Riechman of Mound, Minn.; daughter Kathryn (Bill) Brigden of Centerville, Ohio; sister Helen Larson of Carnation; brothers, Ralph Scheidegger of Bellevue and Jack Scheidegger of North Bend; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1987 and brother Fred Siegenthaler in 1993.
   Memorial services have been held. Memorials may be made to the Sno-Valley Senior Center, P.O. Box 96, Carnation, WA 98014. Arrangements by Snoqualmie Valley Chapel, North Bend.
