Kelly Stevens to walk in Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day

Kelly Stevens of Duvall, will join with nearly 3,000 other compassionate women and men of the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day.
The breast cancer "crusaders" will walk 60 miles over three days to raise money and awareness for breast cancer programs nationwide, including medical research, financial assistance and support services, educational seminars and non-profit, community-based breath health programs. Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women age 40-55 in the U.S., and every woman is at risk.
The Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day in Seattle will step off on Friday, August 10 in Enumclaw, and end with Closing Ceremonies on Sunday, August 12 in Seattle. The nearly 3,000 participants will walk approximately 20 miles a day, traveling at their own pace.
The walkers will be supported by 500 volunteer crew and will enjoy catered hot meals, water and snack stops, gear transport, hot showers and comprehensive medical services. Each evening, walkers will enjoy camaraderie and entertainment, and sleep in supplied tents under the stars in the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day's dramatic "Mobile City."
Stevens has decided to take part in the event because she is concerned for her two daughters living with the threat of breast cancer and cannot stand the thought of her children, or any other person, having to live with such a deadly disease. She feels that with breast cancer threatening so many lives of so many women that we all need to do what ever part we can to protect our friends, family and loved ones.
In order to participate, each walker must train for the event and must commit to raising a minimum of $1,900 (the average funds raised to date is more than $3,000 per walker). To make a greater impact, Kelly (walker number 3342) has set a personal fundraising goal of $2500. To help him/her reach this goal, you may log onto www.breastcancer3day.org/donation.htm and make a pledge online or call (888) 3DAY-AVON.
