Earth Day planting at Fall City Farms

FALL CITY - Earth Day this year will find several community members coming together to enhance an area around Rutherford Slough at Fall City Farms. The Tolt Community Club, Cedarcrest honor students and Overlake School students will combine efforts to plant over 1,000 native species along the slough.
The native plants will be fashioned in the form of a hedgerow, a living fence.
Eventually, this hedgerow will serve as a solution to seasonal replacement of fences due to flooding and high water.
Those interested can volunteer at Fall City Farms on Saturday morning, April 21, from 10 a.m. to noon. Please bring gloves.
To learn more about this Earth Day project, native plants or hedgerows, contact the King Conservation District at (206) 764-3410.
