Single Parent Day Celebration was a success

On behalf of the Northshore YMCA Single Parent Family Program, I would like to thank each of the volunteers who worked tirelessly on behalf of single parent families during our Second Annual National Single Parent Day Celebration. This event provided an opportunity to honor and celebrate single parent families and the incredible determination, commitment and perseverance it takes to parent alone. More than 280 single parents attended the celebration, participating in fun and educational activities catered to both parents and children.
While every one of our volunteers did a terrific job, I would like to particularly thank the Community Steering Committee. Comprised of volunteers from the Northshore area, these dedicated community volunteers provided outstanding leadership to this planning process, which began in December of last year: Susan Lingle, Gail Trivison, Curt Oehlert, Gayle Smith, Tamera Cowles, Jim Stroh, Janet Moore, and Chuck Albert.
The 106 who volunteered their time and energy to making this celebration a success; to Mychal-Lynne Pfiester, of the Y staff who worked tirelessly on the celebration; and to every single parent and child who attended - thank you. Together, your participation will help the YMCA build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
