PSE submits new rate proposal
Puget Sound Energy filed a new time-of-use rate proposal to replace the one submitted earlier this month.
The new proposal applies only to those customers who have the special meters that can track power use by time of day. Commercial and industrial users will not be part of the program initially.
Under the new proposal, the rates would be 6.25 cents a kilowatt-hour from 6 to 10 a.m., 5.3 cents from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6.25 cents from 5 to 9 p.m., and 4.7 cents from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and all day Sundays, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
The utility would like to see the pilot program put into effect from May 1 to Sept. 30.
It has abandoned plans to impose a surcharge on all customers. This substitute proposal will be discussed at a Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission hearing on April 25.
