Lester Rowan passed away peacefully in the morning hours of May 24 at the Evergreen Convalescent Center in Kirkland. He was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Prosser, Wash., the eldest son of Harvey and Amelia Rowan. He lived in Prosser until his senior year of high school when the family moved to Hollywood Hill in Woodinville. He graduated from Bothell High School in 1938.
   Lester served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He received his aircraft and engine license in 1947 and was employed at Boeing Aircraft Co. in Seattle for 36 years as a pre-flight inspector of commercial planes. He married Elinor Stevens of Humboldt, Kan., in the fall of 1947.
   Lester was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, William Rowan of Bothell. He is survived by his wife, Elinor; four daughters, Carol Grout of Bothell, Barb Rowan of Seattle, Donna Szekely of Arlington and Robin Berger of Woodinville; three grandchildren, Carry Schmitt of Enumclaw, David Grout of Arlington and TJ Berger of Woodinville; and one great- grandson, Trevor Schmitt of Enumclaw.
   Services will be held at the Bear Creek Community Church, 18931 NE 143rd and Avondale Road in Woodinville, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. Lester was a member of that church, and donations in his memory may be made there.
