The following classes are available from Bothell Parks and Recreation. Registration forms may be obtained from the Web site at www.ci.bothell.wa.us, or call (425) 486-7430.
Postage Stamp Collecting: 6 8:34 p.m., Thursdays, May 31 & June 7, Ages 18 and up and/or Tuesdays, May 29 and June 5, Ages 8 18, (parents can attend), Anderson Cafeteria. Learn the basics of stamp collecting as well as the fun and education aspects of this hobby. Some things class will cover are definitives and commemoratives, how to soak stamps off paper, stock books or stamp albums, etc. Education projects include Your Life in Stamps and Identifying Countries through Stamps. $6/person.
Scrapbooking: Power Layout: 6 9 p.m., Thursday, May 31, Adult Day Center. Catch up on sorting mounds of photos! Learn to sort, crop, design, and prep for mounting 30 pages into your album at one time. Bring enough photos for 30 album pages, approx. 240 photos. For scrapbookers using the 12x12-album size. $10/person, $7 supply fee payable to instructor.
Cooking with Herbs & Wild Foods: 5:30 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 4, The Spice of Life (at Country Village), Ages 13 Adult. Learn which herbs to use in what kinds of foods. We will look at simple and tasty ways to enjoy fresh and dried herbs in your cooking. Dandelion, chickweed and culinary herbs will be covered. $24/person.
Creative Expression: 10 a.m. 2 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, June 5 7, Ages 3-5, Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Children will explore creative expression activities based on quality children's literature through creative drama, art and movement experiences. Parents welcome to stay. $18/child.
Summer Science Fun: 1 2 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 5 7, Ages 4 and 5, Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. This class offers hands-on nature experiences for preschoolers. Many activities will take place out of doors. $18/child.
Everlasting Wreath: 6:45 - 8:15 p.m., Thursday, June 7, Ages 12 Adult, Adult Day Center. If you like Calyx & Corolla you'll love this wreath. Sheer ribbon, freeze dried roses and other beautiful material fill your personal 12-inch diameter wreath. $10/person, $20 material fee paid directly to instructor.
CPR Heartsaver: 7 10 p.m., Thursday, June 7, Downtown Firehouse.Teaches American Heart Association curriculum including: heart disease risks factors, heart-healthy living, adult CPR, airway management & disease protection. Two-year certification card is issued. FREE.
Scrapbooking Father's Day: 9 a.m. 12 p.m., Saturday, June 9, Downtown Firehouse. Bring 10 20 favorite photos of dad to assemble into an album that will be ready to give to him on Father's Day. Registration includes a 5x7 Creative Memories album, 10 pages and page covers, adhesive, mounting corners and a colored journaling pen. $10/family, $30 supply fee payable to instructor.
Icky Sticky Junior: 10 11 a.m., Monday Thursday, June 11 14, age 3, Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Especially designed for those who like to get messy, this class offers sensory experiences for 3-year-olds. Children will explore and model with textured materials parents might not want to try at home. Old clothes are a must! Parents are invited to stay. $21/child
First Aid: 7 10 p.m., Thursday, June 12, Downtown Firehouse. This is a Labor & Industries approved curriculum. No CPR is taught in this class. $20/person
Scrapbooking: Workshop Series: 7 10 p.m., Thursday, June 14, Adult Day Center. Bring your scrapbooking projects, boxes of photos and spend some time once a month working on your photos and completing your album projects. Workshop includes a New Idea Handout, snack and beverage. $10/person
Adult/Pediatric CPR: 7 10 p.m., Thursday, June 14, Downtown Firehouse. Training for daycare workers. Same curriculum as Heartsaver class, but includes airway management and CPR for infants, children. $20/person
