Drug-related hospital visits rise

Recently, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration issued a report on drug-related emergency department visits that found the greater Seattle metropolitan area had increases in drug-related emergency room visits from 1999 to 2000.
   € There was a 32 percent increase in drug-related emergency room visits.
   € Cocaine mentions during drug-related emergency department visits increased by 32 percent.
   € Marijuana mentions during drug-related emergency room visits increased by 75 percent.
   € Methamphetamine or speed mentions during drug-related emergency room visits increased by 53 percent.
