Val Roney receives Governor's Elder Award
Duvall resident Val Roney has received the Governor's Elder Award from the Governor's Council on Substance Abuse.
The award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the health of Washington state through their work in substance abuse prevention.
Val has been very influential in helping the Snoqualmie Tribe set up their drug and alcohol program for the people of the entire Snoqualmie Valley, said Deborah Schnellman, communications program manager of the state Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.
The Snoqualmie Tribe showed their appreciation for her many years of work in prevention and treatment in their community by nominating her for this award.
The awards ceremony took place in Olympia, as part of Drug Free Washington Month, which is observed every April.
