Gallop to Puyallup - Sept. 7-23

The Puyallup Fair is kicking off its second hundred years Friday, Sept. 7, at the fairgrounds, 110 Ninth Ave. SW in Puyallup.
   New this year will be eight life-size cows turned into designer masterpieces by local artists.
   The cows will be grazing in the fountain inside the Gold Gate. A 14,000 square foot health expo - Seniors at the Fair - is also new this year.
   Two new rides, the Crazy Beach Party and the Cliffhanger, will join the 20-story high thrill ride, the Extreme Scream, roller coaster, and other midway attractions.
   The PRCA Rodeo will be center stage in the grandstand arena the first three days of the fair. Limited free seating is available Saturday and Sunday (does not include gate admission).
   Seven nights of $10/free shows on the Grandstand Stage are planned.
   Kids 12 years and under can catch and release trout Sept. 7, 8, 9 in the Northwest Outdoors Building.
   Grandstand entertainment (7 p.m.) includes 311 (Sept. 14); Bonnie Raitt (Sept. 15); Smokey Robinson (Sept. 16); Ramsey Lewis and David Benoit (Sept. 17); Kenny Rogers (Sept. 18); Keith Urban with Jamie O'Neal (Sept. 20); JT Taylor (Sept. 21); Alabama (Sept. 22). On Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. Paul Revere and the Raiders will entertain.
   Artist William Foster Reese will offer a showing of his works throughout the fairgrounds.
   Gates open daily at 10 a.m. and close on Fridays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m.
   Admission prices for adults are $8.50; youth (6-18) are $5.50; ages five and under are free; senior citizens (62+) are $5.50.
   Value Packs for Friends and Family are $29.95 for a $57 value. Purchase advance ticket package which includes four gate tickets, six food coupons and 20 ride coupons through Sept. 7 at area Fred Meyer stores.
   Public parking is $6 per day in all official parking lots. Lots open at 7 a.m.
