Afterhours at Pumps & Grinds

Jazz music at Stillwater Church
Northwest Jazz will perform a free concert on the grounds of Stillwater Hill Community Church on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. The band is composed of 18 instrumentalists and vocalists from all over the Puget Sound area. They have entertained at malls, concert halls, concerts and parks. Their musical style includes jazz, pop, rock and swing. This event is fun for the whole family. Early childhood education at CSSV
Children's Services of Sno-Valley in Duvall is opening a new preschool program for three year olds beginning Sept. 17. Children must be three by Aug. 31. All classes take place at the Duvall office located at 15904 Main St. Call (425) 788-7924.
Steak dinner returns
The Sno-Valley Senior Center will have the monthly steak, fish or chicken dinner on Sept. 8. Reservations are required. Call (425) 333-4152.
Girls Scouts to celebrate camp's 50th
Join Girl Scouts young and old on Saturday, Oct. 6, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Camp River Ranch in Carnation. The day's festivities begin at 10 a.m. and include a Historical Walk Through Time, a camp scavenger hunt, games, the unveiling of a time capsule and a gigantic campfire. The 50th Anniversary Committee is also looking for pictures, stories and artifacts to put on display. Beginning the week of Sept. 17, Children's Services of Sno-Valley, Duvall, is offering the following classes and support groups:
Parenting Class: Strengthening Families is a free, nine-week class for parents of children ages 3-11 years that begins Thursday, Sept. 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Learn to positively discipline your child, build a quality relationship, enhance problem-solving skills, understand anger and cope with challenges. Parents Support Group: An opportunity to share information, support and personal experiences, as well as learn about services available to families. Single parents are encouraged to attend. Free ongoing sessions are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8 p.m. Call 788-7924 to register for free childcare.
Grandparents Support Group: Informal support group for grandparents raising grandchildren. Free ongoing sessions on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8 p.m. Call 788-7924 for free childcare.
