Emerging majority steps forward
Over one-third of households in King County include a member with a significant disability. That 39 percent is steadily increasing and becoming an emerging majority in our community. On Sept. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. a festival will be held at the Seattle Center Pavilion to provide resources, options and cohesion to this growing population. This Emerging Majority Festival is the first to be held in Washington and in the United States.
Government representatives will join over 40 organizations and more that 500 participants at this community event. Featured will be workshops on intimacy and relationships, new directions in public transit, the "Ticket to Work" employment incentive program, and affordable assistive technology. For free admission and lunch, it is necessary to register online at www.wccd.org or by contacting Gladys Springborn-Brannigan at (206) 633-6633 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
