Manford "J.C." Davis
Manford "J.C." Davis died at his home in Temple, Texas, on Aug. 28 at the age of 74.
He was born April 15, 1927, in Pailer, Calif. He married Betty Crouch. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps on June 28, 1945 and served his country in World War II.
He was a truck driver for 38 years. He loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman. He moved to Carnation in 1996, where he worked for Carnation Farms. He moved to Texas where he made his home until he passed away.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Alicia Davis and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Davis, of Temple, Texas; two sons, Anthony J.C. and Johnnie Davis of Temple, Texas; four daughters, Laura Hill of Temple, Texas, Donna Keller of Flagstaff, Ariz., Mary Malone of Atwater, Calif. and Penny Powell of Duvall, Wash.; one brother, Evertt Davis of Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Marie Schroeder of Clovis, Calif. and Mable Parson of Reedly, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who he said were his pride and joy.
He was a kind and gentle man. His last words before his death (after not speaking for numerous days) was a simple and unforgettable "I love you." These words were spoken to his wife and best friend of 51 years.
