13 seniors named National Merit semifinalists
The National Merit Scholarship Foundation has designated 13 Northshore seniors as National Merit Semifinalists.
Bothell High School
Michael Esser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Esser of Bothell and Meagan Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Reed, also of Bothell.
Inglemoor High School
Matthew Anderson, son of Laurel Anderson-Wallis and Stephen Anderson of Bothell; Lance Belka, son of Brian and Cynthia Belka of Redmond; Melinda Chism, daughter of Geoffrey and Barbara Cordray of Redmond; Kimberly Kelsey, daughter of William and Lisa Kelsey of Kenmore; Rebekah and Colleen Levin of Redmond; Nicolas Newcomb, son of Philip and Christine Newcomb of Redmond; Rachel Ockwell, daughter of John and Shelley Ockwell of Brier, and Meru Sadhu, son of Chanchal and Krishna Sadhu of Bothell.
Woodinville High School
Brian J. Ritchie, son of David and Betsy Ritcie of Woodinville; Kathryn M. Rivard, daughter of Marcel and Pamela Rivard of Woodinville.
Across the nation, the Foundation designates about 16,000 semifinalists from among nearly 1.2 million students who take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test.
The semifinalistsare now competing for Merit Finalist status and an opportunity to obtain a National Merit Scholarship next spring.
