Northshore SAT scores show slight drop

While the SAT scores for the Northshore School District dropped slightly from those of last year, they continue to exceed those of the state and the nation. Factors that might have contributed to the slight decline in scores over those of last year include a larger and different group of students taking the exams and a difference in the number of years of study in specific academic areas.
€ Eighty percent of the students who took the test in 2000 had taken four or more years of English as compared to 68 percent in 2001.
€ Sixty-eight percent of the students who took the test in 2000 had taken four or more years of math as compared to 64 percent in 2001.
€Eight-three percent of the students who took the test in 2000 had taken four or more years of social science/history as compared to 71 in 2001.
Approximately 64 percent of Northshore's seniors took the SAT.
