Farms open their gates to visitors on Harvest Celebration Day

*Bright smiles of delight, grins of discovery, peals of surprised laughter - that's what you can expect when kids of all ages visit King County farms on Harvest Celebration Day, Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Erin and Tuxedo win

*In competition at the Western Washington State Fair, Erin Calcagni, a seventh grader at Leota Junior High, and her miniature horse, Tuxedo, represented Snohomish County in the 4-H International Driving Division for ages 11-14.

Help for caregivers

*More families than ever before are caring for an elderly parent.

*King County Executive Ron Sims visited Bear Creek Valley on Sept. 20 in hopes of seeing salmon spawning in the streams. Unfortunately, the water levels were still low, and only a few fish were making it upstream at that time.
