Local church raises $10,000 for NYC disaster relief
On Saturday, Sept. 29, Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Duvall sponsored a car wash and food booth to raise money for New York City disaster relief. The food booth highlighted the patriotic theme by serving hot dogs and apple pie. Donations combined with matching funds from Aid Association for Lutherans and Microsoft totaled $10,392.78.
The event was a joint effort with the community. Dr. Gary Rutledge provided space for the event and other local businesses donated food and supplies.
Several Duvall firefighters joined in the work of washing cars. Residents supplied an endless stream of dirty vehicles and donations for the cause.
Lord of Life is a new congregation meeting at Cherry Valley Elementary School on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. The church has purchased property at the intersection of Big Rock Road and Batten Road in Duvall where they will build a facility for future use.
