Road improvement projects in progress

WOODINVILLE - Travelers to and through Woodinville will see their share of bulldozers, construction advisory signs and orange cones - all signs of road improvement projects that are in full swing around the city.
NE 177th Place and State Route (SR) 202 intersection
Phase I includes construction of a new right-turn lane on Northeast 177th Place for traffic heading west onto 131st Avenue Northeast (SR 202). The second stage of Phase I includes the construction of a second lane for southbound SR202 traffic turning left onto Northeast 177th Place.
What to expect: Traffic will for the most part continue uninterrupted but there will be some delays along NE 177th Place. Construction flaggers will direct drivers. Reconstruction work will be performed at night and may last up to two weeks.
Alternative Routes: Use Northeast 175th Street heading east, then turning left onto 132nd Avenue Northeast. Travelers may also use Northeast 175th, head east and turn left (north) onto 140th Avenue Northeast. A third alternative is to exit onto Northeast 195th from SR 522 and turn right onto Woodinville-Snohomish Road and turn right onto 139th Avenue Northeast at Northeast 190th.
Construction Hours: 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Reconstruction work to be performed at night.)
   124th Avenue NE
Improvements will widen 124th Avenue between Northeast 160th Street and Northeast 146th Street. Work will also include installing left-turn pockets at street intersections.
What to expect: Traffic will be allowed on 124th, but delays will occur to allow for movement of equipment.
Alternative Routes: State Route 202 via State Route 522 and Interstate 405.
Project timeline: Completion is expected by November 2001 (weather permitting).
   Construction hours: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Enhancements: A three-lane roadway will include a left turn lane, enhanced pedestrian walkways along the east side of 124th Avenue Northeast and installation of a bioswale to enhance water quality along the west side of 124th Avenue NE.
   NE 175th/140th Avenue NE intersection
An asphalt overlay will be installed. The work will pave several hundred feet of street on all four legs of the intersection. Asphalt grinding and paving began Oct. 8 and should be completed by the end of the week.
What to expect: The pavement along curb and gutters will be ground down and repaved. Grinding nearest residential areas will be conducted prior to 10 p.m. The main intersection will be ground down for the whole width to smooth out the ruts and potholes from the recent water main construction.
Project timeline: Completion is expected by late October.
Construction hours: Nighttime hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Enhancements: Improved road surface and pedestrian and vehicular safety will result.
The city is also working on a long-range plan to manage tree replacement over the next several years. The draft plan is scheduled for City Council review in late November. Public comment is encouraged.
