Rainier Chamber Winds open season

Rainier Chamber Winds open the Fall City Arts Council's 2001-2002 season on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in a classical concert of music for chamber winds. Recognized by Seattle Post-Intelligencer for a "remarkable history of superb performances," Rainier Chamber Winds was founded in 1990 by conductor Kathleen Macferran as the only professional ensemble of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.
In addition to the concert on Saturday evening, the Fall City Arts Council will offer a workshop for middle school and high school band students, featuring the Rainier Chamber Winds members and conductor Kathleen Macferren. The workshop is Saturday morning, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chief Kanim Middle School. Students will participate in master classes with the instrumentalists and in a joint rehearsal of their repertoire. All valley instrumental students are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to work with these professional musicians.
This concert opens the second season of the Fall City Arts Council, a group dedicated to presenting a variety of artists in performance and exhibits, and encouraging the community in their own participation in the arts through cultural events and workshops. The concert is also part of the King County Arts Commission Performance Network. The Performance Network was established in 1997 as a collaboration between King County Local Arts Agencies, the King County Arts Commission, and local performing arts organizations and artists. Other artists featured in the Fall City Arts Council's Performance Network season are SecondStory Repertory's Mini-Sprouts Children's Theatre production of "Hansel and Gretel" at Fall City Elementary School on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 and Circus Contraption, a one-ring circus, on Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Fall City Elementary School.
Tickets for the Rainier Chamber Winds concert are $4.00 for adults and $2 for children, 15 and under. For information or tickets for either the Rainier Chamber Winds workshop or concert, contact the Fall City Arts Council at (425) 222-5037.
