Open house at Big Rock Ball Park

DUVALL - The city of Duvall is inviting the community to a park open house at Big Rock Ball Park on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m., to mark the completion of the park's most recent phase of construction. The Duvall City Council and the Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association will gather with community members to welcome the new facility to Duvall.
This fall, even as the construction contractor, A-1 Landscaping and Construction of Lynnwood, prepared the earthwork for the new storm detention pond, drainage system, new entryway, parking lot, irrigation and planting, younger teams from the Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association began practicing on the fields on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and played scheduled games on Saturdays.
The fields were constructed last year by the city's Department of Public Works, along with Norm Cook Excavation and volunteers.
The whole park will take years to complete. The city has received grants from the state and King County to complete the work done to date. By the end of the year, the city will have spent over $400,000 in improvements. Both the Sno-Valley North Little League and the Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association have contributed over $12,000 each towards the fields. Other community members have volunteered or donated, as well.
Next spring, the youngest teams from SVNLL open their season at the new park.
