Brownies surprise firefighters

Thirteen second grade students from Brownie Troop 3273 surprised firefighters at Woodinville Fire Station #33 with a gifts of appreciation consisting of cakes and hand painted T-shirts. The seven- year-old girls from Sunrise Elementary School each painted a shirt with pictures of American flags and firefighters adorned with words of appreciation. Station 33's crew, including Deputy Chief Bud Backer, were on hand to accept the gifts as Troop 3273 sang "God Bless America."
"I want to thank Troop 3273 for their appreciation," said Woodinville Firefighter Matt Durham. "The community support we have received since Sept. 11 only reinforces my belief that as a fire department we must continue to strive to be the best fire department west of the Mississippi. They deserve no less."
"It's nice to see these young ladies thinking about their country and their local firefighters," said Backer. "These girls represent tomorrow's leaders, they could become firefighters or even the president one day."
