Youth Forum - Nov. 20
State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe, D-Bothell, will host the fourth annual Youth Forum from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Ricketts Auditorium in Bothell.
The meeting is designed to get students talking about state government and policies that impact their lives.
Among the topics the senator wants feedback on are students' concerns about the war on terrorism, state testing (the WASL), fees to participate in high school sports and ways to encourage youths older than 18 to vote.
At the forum, students will be invited to apply for McAuliffe's 1st Legislative District Youth Council, a panel composed of about 15 teens who will work with the senator and learn how to lobby for or against issues during the 2002 legislative session.
"The Youth Council is a perfect opportunity for junior high and high school students to participate in the legislative progress," McAuliffe said.
Applications for the Youth Council will be distributed at the meeting and are also available through McAuliffe's office.
