Nixon, Lambert big election winners on Eastside

In the Lower Valley elections, the biggest upset came in the race for mayor of Duvall. Challenger Becky Nixon took an early and significant lead over longtime incumbent Glen Kuntz.
   By Friday, election totals showed Nixon still considerably ahead with 59 percent to Kuntz's 41 percent. Nixon noted that during her campaign, residents had indicated they felt the city needed a change "after so many years." Kuntz has been mayor for over eight years.
   In the race for the open District 3 position on the King County Council, former state Rep. Kathy Lambert (R), carrying 63 percent, won easily over Snoqualmie Valley School Board President Kristy Sullivan (D), with 37 percent.
