New CEO at Evergreen
Evergreen Healthcare has announced that Steven Brown has been chosen as chief executive officer, effective Jan. 3, 2002. The board of commissioners unanimously approved Brown's employment agreement at a special board meeting held Oct. 31.
Brown, who has more than 25 years of administrative experience in health care, comes to Evergreen from Inova Health System, a not-for-profit health care system based in northern Virginia where he is system vice-president.
"We are proud to report that we were able to recruit our top candidate. Steve's skills and experience are obvious assets and he brings the added relationship building and strategic planning skills Evergreen desires," said Jeanette Greenfield, Evergreen Healthcare Board president.
"Steve's assets include strong administrative leadership skills and a proven ability to partner with physicians to provide advanced medical care. These skills will benefit our community as we together shape Evergreen's future services and programs," said Mitch Weinberg, M.D., Evergreen Hospital Medical Center's chief of staff.
The search process began last spring with the assistance of a national recruitment agency which screened more than 450 prospects, 10 of which were presented to a search committee.
David Kiehn, Evergreen Healthcare's chief financial officer, will continue as interim chief executive officer until Brown arrives.
