Holiday events

Classic Nursery, 12526 Avondale Rd. NE in Redmond, will hold their 18th annual holiday open house from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 1-2, 8-9. Featured at the event will be farm animals from Udderly Goats and the Buyagawan family, pony rides provided by the Classic Equestrian 4-H Club and benefiting Hopelink, complimentary homemade cookies and hot cocoa, holiday decorations and Christmas trees. Santa Claus will be on hand for visits and pictures Dec. 8 and 9.
   Families are invited to celebrate the holidays the Dutch way from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the LakeForest Park Civic Club. Sinterklaas will be joined by Black Peters giving out candy and treats to children. Games, singing and crafts will also be part of the event. For details, call (206) 363-2772.
   Pictures with Santa and holiday music will be presented at Redmond Town Center through Dec. 24. Opening ceremonies for Redmond Lights, a celebration of traditions cultures and faiths, will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, beginning at the Redmond City Hall and ending at Redmond Town Center.
   Members of the Marine Corps will be at the main gazebo in Country Village from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, collecting new toy donations for the Toys for Tots program.
   Kirkland Arts Center will hold its annual Holiday Art Sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Dec. 16. The center is located at 620 Market St. (425) 822-7161.
   The 4th annual Evergreen Christmas Fair and Light Festival is planned for Dec. 7-9, 14-16 and 21-23 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors (60+) and students (11-18). Kids 10 and under are free with an adult admission. (360) 794-5504.
   Visit the Issaquah Reindeer Festival Dec. 1-23 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Cougar Mountain Zoo, 19525 SE 54th in Issaquah. (425) 391-5508.
   The traditional Hutchinson Center Santa Breakfast will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Dec. 8-9, 15-16 and 22-24 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel. Tickets are $20 for children and $30 for adults. Proceeds benefit the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. (206) 667-6264.
   Santa Claus will be aboard the Lake Whatcom Railway's old passenger train on Saturday, Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22. Train times are 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. The train leaves from Wickersham, 10 miles north of Sedro Woolley on Highway. 9.
