Obituary: Maxwell David Nicholls

Maxwell Nicholls, 81, died on Dec. 29 at home in Woodinville.
   Born in Cle Elum, he had lived in the Redmond-Woodinville area for 52 years. He began the Redmond Animal Clinic in 1949 where he was a veterinarian specializing in large animals.
   He was a graduate of Washington State University and was the recipient of a football scholarship there.
   Max was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on a minesweeper in the southeast Pacific.
   He is survived by Mary, his wife of 58 years; son, Christopher of Monroe; daughters, Penny of Woodinville and Nancy of Loveland, Colo.; and 4 grandchildren.
   Memorial services were held Jan. 4. Donations may be made to the College of Veterinary Medicine, WSU, Pullman, WA.
