Hot tropicals, cool annuals at annual Spring Luncheon

The Woodinville Garden Club will hold their 17th annual Spring Luncheon on Wednesday, March 6. Guest speaker Richard Hartlage will discuss "Tropicals are Hot! Some Cool Annuals and Tender Perennials to Use in the Garden." He will discuss using high impact annuals and tender plants in pots, in annual bedding schemes or added to mixed borders.
   Hartlage is the curator and director of the Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden in Seattle and is the author of "Bold Visions for the Garden: Basics, Magic and Inspirations." He lectures widely and writes on gardening topics for such periodicals as Horticulture, Pacific Horticulture, Fine Gardening, and Rebecca's Garden.
   Additionally, his work has been featured in the New York Times, Traditional Home, and gardening magazines in Japan and Europe. His photographs appear regularly in the Seattle Times and many horticultural magazines.
   The luncheon will be held from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. at the Bear Creek Country Club, 13737 202nd Avenue NE, Woodinville.
   Nonrefundable tickets are $22.50 each, payable to Woodinville Garden Club. The ticket deadline is Feb. 20 and they may be purchased by mail only. Space is limited.
