Bothell seeks nominations for Alex Sidie Awards

BOTHELL - The City of Bothell encourages citizens to nominate a fellow citizen for its annual Alex Sidie Random Acts of Kindness Day which will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. at Banner Bank (10125 Main Street, Bothell).
Nominations are due on Friday, April 26, by 5 p.m. Nomination forms are available by calling the City of Bothell Parks & Recreation Division at (425) 486.7430.
"Alex Sidie Day is just one day each year that is set aside to spotlight citizens for kindness," said Public Works Director Dave Zabell. "The City hopes to receive many nominations to recognize those who deserve it."
In 1998, the City of Bothell dedicated May 25, Sidie's birthday, to recognize community members who have displayed acts of kindness.
Winners are chosen based on their random acts of kindness. A random act of kindness is doing for others without expecting something in return.
Alex Sidie, a local pharmacist in downtown Bothell for many years, passed away in 1997. He was known throughout the community for his random acts of kindness: filling prescriptions at any time of the day or night, adopting numerous stray cats and giving them homes in his pharmacy and sending flowers or chocolates to his customers.
