Man indicted in 'Candyman' sting
Michael Scott Powers of Lake Stevens, arrested in early March in the FBI's so-called "Candyman" sting, was formally charged with one count of child pornography.
Apparently Powers belonged to a Yahoo! e-group on the Internet named "the candyman" and traded pornographic images involving children.
The FBI stated they had credible proof that illegal acts (such the downloading or trading of pornographic images) had taken place at Powers' place of work, a local winery.
He has since been dismissed from his job of 10 years as manager of networks at the winery. Powers has been released on a personal recognizance bond, meaning he has to report on a regular basis to the Pre-trial Services office.
An arraignment date has not been set.
