Leota students collect for Hopelink

The students at Leota Junior High School became a link of hope with the success of their 2002 Canned Food Drive. The drive was held March 4-8.
   Students collected $1,741 in cash and over 13,000 items for Hopelink. By the end of the week over 116 crates of nonperishable items were donated to help community members in need. Hopelink serves over 35,000 people in this area with food, shelter, housing, transportation, family support, emergency financial assistance and more.
   The following groups were awarded Krispy Kreme doughnuts (sponsored by PTSA) for being top for their grade: 7th Grade - Mr. Nakatsu; 8th Grade - Mr. Nelson; 9th Grade - Mr. Sander.
   Also helping with the food drive were: The Lion Channel; custodians Gary Warmbrodt and Mike; parents: Barb Beard, Cathleen Brueske, Scott Brueske, Kim Collins, Debbie Cowden, Lisa Dobbin, Karen Funis, Mike Funis, Ruthie Gibbs, Chris Helbock, Joanne James, Linda Jenkins, Kathy Johnson, Cindy McCrea, Norma Murphy, Judy Peterson, Arlene Neal, Carrie Phelps, Jan Pollard, Marjorie Pomeroy, Julie Rice, Tyera Roberts, Kathy Smith, Karen Soloman, Lisa Supinski, Sharon Wilson and Deb Wissmiller.
