Local soccer players win 2002 state cup

Five local high school students are players on the SSCYSCA Northwest Nationals Stellarz soccer team which won the GU-18 Snicker's 2002 Washington State Championship March 3 at Edmonds Woodway Stadium. The players include Megan Beden and Sara Gaz from Woodinville High School and Sara Morgan, Carly Sahill and Jessica Bathurst from Bothell High School. Sara Morgan and Amy Carnell (from Lake Stevens) each scored to give the Stallarz a 2-1 victory over SYSA Emerald City FC '83. This is the second State Championship for the Premier I team which will represent Washington in the 2002 Far West Regionals in Salt Lake City where they will face Hawaii, Utah and New Mexico in the preliminary matches. The team is made up of seniors from area high schools and is coached by Mike Koslosky, Mike Lovejoy, and Kenny Ormsby.
