Special to the Weekly
The Woodinville High School Drama Department will present its spring production, Cole Porter's "Kiss Me Kate," opening May 17 in the WHS theatre.
The popular musical will feature such heartfelt ballads as "So In Love," and electric production numbers such as "Too Darn Hot."Mirroring Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew," this play within a play has something for everyone. With hilarious comedy in both modern speech and Shakespearean lingo and a well-written script by Sam and Bella Speak, the musical has the distinction of being one of the few musical comedies to play more than a thousand performances on Broadway.
"Kiss Me Kate" will run May 18, 23-25. Ticket prices are $8.50 for general admission, $6.50 for high school students and $10 for VIP seats, which are the first seven rows of cushioned seats.
Curtain for all performances will be at 7 p.m. and tickets can be bought at the door or preordered by calling (425) 486-7333. If ordered by phone, tickets for May 17 and 18 are $5.
