Three promotions in Bothell Police Dept.

The City of Bothell Police Department has announced the promotions of Deputy Chief of Police Drew Nielsen, Captain Steve Phelan, and Captain Henry Simon.
   Deputy Chief Nielsen, whose most recent assignment was as the Captain of the Operations Division, has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, SWAT Team Leader and Administrative Captain. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Washington Bothell Branch Campus and a Masters of Business Administration degree from City University. Nielsen began his career with the City of Bothell in 1989.
   Captain Steve Phelan began his law enforcement career in 1991 at the Hollywood Park Police Department in Texas. Prior to this, he served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years. Captain Phelan joined the City of Bothell Police Department in 1992 and has served as a Patrol Officer, Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant and Traffic Sergeant. He holds an Associates of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest Texas State University. He is currently assigned as the Captain of the Special Operations Division.
   Captain Henry Simon began his law enforcement career in 1987 at the Mountlake Terrace Police Department after completing one term of enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. He joined the City of Bothell Police Department in 1996. He has served as a Patrol Officer, Juvenile Detective, Patrol Sergeant and Juvenile Services Sergeant. He holds an associates of arts degree in criminal justice from Shoreline Community College. In his new role, Simon will be captain of the Investigations Division.
