Woodinville Garden Tour - July 13
The Woodinville Garden Club is planning a public tour of local gardens to take place on Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The "Tour of Gardens 2002" will feature six diverse, private gardens located in the Woodinville community.
One of two neighboring gardens includes a rambunctious burst of perennials within a hillside mixed border, a secluded reading area accented with a water feature, and a well-behaved, evergreen front garden that welcomes guests.
As featured in the June issue of Seattle Homes and Lifestyles, the neighboring garden includes a large deck surrounded by a variety of unusual perennials suggesting peace and tranqulity. Here, garden rooms - each self-contained, but part of a dynamic whole - are anchored by trees and colorful shrubs.
Also on tour is an Asian-influenced garden featuring a meandering path along a salmon stream that flows through the unique garden rooms and connects several water features, specimen trees and a teahouse to provide serene visual statements throughout.
Additional open gardens include property with three tiers of plantings leading to a Mediterranean-inspired garden, a working horse farm with a natural trout pond and estate-like lawns bordered by a gently curving stream heavily planted with perennials, and an urban garden complete with a treehouse that overlooks the wildlife of natural wetlands.
Following the tour, Woodinville's Willows Lodge will host a post-tour reception from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for all ticket holders. Along with appetizers, guests are invited to tour the Northwest-designed lodge and its gardens.
Tickets are $15 per person. The ticket brochure includes complete driving instructions, map and descriptions for each garden.
