Students dedicate Peace Pole

Sixth grade students at Cottage Lake Elementary School in Woodinville dedicated a Peace Pole as a gift to the school community on June 19. The Peace Pole, a six-sided cedar monument inscribed with the message "May Peace Prevail On Earth" in six languages, was dedicated at a school-wide assembly.
During the dedication assembly, 6th grade students told the history and significance of the Peace Pole, carried flags from around the world and spoke the words "May Peace Prevail On Earth" in the six languages represented on the Peace Pole (Spanish, Chinese, French, Russian, American Sign Language and English.) At the conclusion of the assembly, all students in grades K-6 joined in singing "Let There Be Peace On Earth."
The 6th graders raised funds through a Peace Walk last month on the school campus. They carried flags from around the world as they marched on the school campus promoting world peace and collecting pledges from families, neighbors and friends.
