CARNATION - The Riverview School District hosted a farewell party and tribute to departing school board member Laura Ritter last week. Ritter has been on the board for over 10 years.
She was first elected in November of 1992 and served as president for two years and legislative representative for over five years.
Ritter, also a librarian at the Duvall Public Library, says she decided to resign because all her kids are grown and she felt it was time to do other things.
"The administration is on a good track now and the team seems to be doing a good job," she said. "The budget is tight, but they seem to be working it out. It's time for me to do something else now."
The district experience substantial growth in the past decade, as building Cedarcrest High School, which opened in 1993.
