Walker thankful for support

I want to thank the Duvall community for supporting the Avon Breast Cancer Event this year. As a participant in the 60-mile walk (from Enumclaw to Seattle), I have been able to raise $1,500 to make breast cancer testing and treatment available for women and men who cannot afford it.
The walk takes place during the weekend of Aug. 8-10, with 3,000 participants walking 20 miles a day and camping in tents at night. Each of the walkers is committed to fundraising as well. My goal is to raise $1,900 - only $400 to go. (Contribute and you might win a luxury massage.)
Actually, the benefits of training for the walk have greatly enhanced my life. I started out on weekly power walks and then I walked four miles to work and back again. As a massage therapist I am always telling my clients to pay attention to their bodies. Now I am paying better attention to mine. After a full day of working on my feet, it felt great to have my muscles moving freely. I am up to 17-mile single hikes and about 20-24 miles a week altogether and feel more fit than I have in years.
Thanks again, Duvall, for all your encouragement and support. See you in my stride.
