Author to be honored at reception
Barnes & Noble will honor author Clara Olink Kelly at a book discussion and reception to be held Tuesday, July 23, at 7 p.m. at the Woodinville store, 18025 Garden Way NE.
In her debut book, "The Flamboya Tree: Memories of a Mother's Wartime Courage," Kelly offers testimony that not all heroes in World War II waged war on the battlefield. Her memoir recounts her family's four-year ordeal in a Japanese prison camp and her mother's resolve to save them.
In other events at Barnes & Noble, Tami Oldham Ashcraft, author of "Red Sky in Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss and Survival at Sea," will share her amazing story of survival at sea Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 7:30 p.m.
The book is an account of Ashcraft's 41-day ordeal alone on the open sea after her fiancˇ was swept overboard in a storm.
Birding expert Bob Morse will present a slide presentation Thursday;, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. Moore's new book is "Birder's Guide to Coastal Washington."
