Eric Barnum named Interim director

Eric Barnum, Northshore's Director of Student Services, has been appointed Interim Executive Director of Secondary Education.
Barnum replaces Dr. Henry Vanikiotis, now the Superintendent of the Eastmont School District in East Wenatchee. Barnum just completed his 31st year in the district, a career that has included teaching and serving as an assistant principal on the secondary level.
He served as Director of Athletics, Academics, and Student Services from 1991-98, and as the Director of Student Services since 1998.
Craig Hopkins, a former Kenmore Junior High School principal and most recently principal at Meadowlake Middle School in the Edmonds School District, will assume Barnum's student services duties on an interim basis.
"Eric is familiar with the responsibilities of the executive director, understands the workings of the Board and the district office, and is organized and a good problem-solver," said Northshore Superintendent Dr. Karen Forys in making the announcement. "Craig knows most of our secondary administrators, is familiar with student discipline and counseling/nursing programs, and has served as an athletic director. I have confidence both Eric and Craig will meet the varying needs of our staff and student."
Both appointments are for one year and take effect on Aug. 1.
