Permit center maintains high rating

WOODINVILLE - The City's permit center has received a rating of two for effectiveness in building code regulation and enforcement by the Washington Surveying and Ratings Bureau (WSRB), maintaining its high score since WSRB's last review in 1995.
The rating range is one to ten, with one as the highest score.
Higher ratings are one factor that contributes to lower insurance premiums for residential, commercial and industrial structures.
"Receiving a high rating reflects our commitment to regulating current construction and fire codes," explains Dean McKee, permit center director. "Our operations and highly qualified staff contribute tremendously to our rating."
In this year's review, the permit center was evaluated in the areas of administration, permitting, inspection, plan review, training, qualification and certification of staff, code enforcement, adopted codes, fees and operating policies and procedures.
Specialized personnel responsible for permit intake, processing, review, issuance and inspection staff the permit center.
Other services provided include residential and commercial construction inspection, civil site plan review and inspection, and code enforcement.
The permit center director serves as the city's building official.
