Woodinville Pony 13 wins Peter Kirk Challenge Tournament

The Woodinville Pony 13 baseball team won the Peter Kirk Challenge Tournament by defeating the Issaquah Express in the championship game held in Kirkland. In earlier games they had victories over the Issaquah Hornets, 12-2, the Bothell Gators, 7-5, the Kirkland PDS, 13-1. In the semi-finals a 3-0 victory over Arby's of Spokane with Matt Beers throwing a no-hitter. Stats for the tournament: Bennett 11-16, Boyer 7-14, Shelton 9-20 and Beers 5-15. The championship winning pitcher was Mike Rubstello, taking over from Ryan Bennett, Spencer Boyer, and Travis Bradshaw, who pitched the first five innings. The team is made up of 13-year-old Woodinville-area boys. The team is coached by Dave Bradshaw, with John Bennett and George Pavlos assisting.
