MidSound Krushers win tourney championship
The MidSound Krushers went undefeated in the TriCities Classic Fourth of July Tournament held in Kennewick. Fourteen select teams from Washington, Idaho, Oregon and British Columbia took part. Pitcher Brent Shea was voted Tournament MVP, and Tyler Mayfield was voted Offensive Player of the tournament.
"Our team played their game and every member played an important role in winning the championship," said Head Coach Eric Bloyd. "This tournament is considered to be one of the toughest and most competitive tournaments in the Northwest for 18 year-old and under category. It was extremely rewarding to win considering our rigorous requirements for our players to maintain excellent grades as well as high standards of baseball."
The Krushers scored 69 runs in 6, 7-inning games.
"Winning first place in this tournament was definitely a highlight," said Kyle Charvat, starting first baseman for the second consecutive year for the Krushers and 2002 graduate from WHS. "The level of competition was exceptional." "All coaches have different coaching styles, and Coaches Bloyd and Raven have a very positive approach with our players, and it was great to see them rewarded for their efforts."
MidSound Krushers are currently representing the Northwest in the NBC World Series held in Oklahoma July 26 through August 4.
