*On Aug. 9 at about 9 a.m. an 18-year-old Juanita woman was waiting at a bus stop near her home at the 10000 block of Juanita-Woodinville Way Northeast.

*Monroe Police are seeking assistance in the case of a missing 33-year-old woman, Christina L. Zier.
  

Paul Brendle dies

*According to King County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Greg Dymerski, the body of 55-year-old Paul Brendle was found last Wednesday, Aug. 7, in a car parked in the Woodinville Library parking lot.

Dorothy and Ted Johns celebrate 50 years

*Dorothy and Ted Johns were married Aug. 1, 1952. They will celebrate their 50th anniversary at a family-hosted party Sept. 8 at the Holly Hills Mobile Park Club House from 2-6 p.m.
  

Backstrom honored for African projects

*Woodinville Water District Board of Commissioners member Walter Backstrom has received an award from the American Water Works Association's Water for People Division for his support and dedication to the development of sustainable water, sanitation and health projects in Africa.

Obituaries: Robert Loren Campbell

*Robert "Bob" Campbell, 80, passed away Aug. 9 at his home surrounded by his family after a short courageous battle with cancer.
  

Police commend Woodinville Marine

*Steven Knechtel Jr., a 1998 graduate of Woodinville High School, is a United States Marine currently stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Promoted to lance corporal in June of last year, Knechtel is assigned to the Second Marine Division as a combat load master.
