State and World Series champs

Fourteen-year-old Timbercrest Junior High students Curtis Dupart and Philip Hackney are members of the Washington State Cannons, a select Sandy Koufax baseball team, that went undefeated again this year to win first place at the state tournament recently. Their record for the season was 27-1.
Last month, the Cannons and two other Washington state teams traveled to Dublin, Ohio, for the CABA World Series. Dupart, centerfielder and pitcher, and Hackney, designated hitter and pitcher, both smacked home runs to help lead their team to victory. After winning 10 of 12 games, the Cannons came out on top taking first place in the World Series. The other Washington teams placed 12th and 21st out of 28 teams.
It is the first time in state history that any Washington team has won the World Series.
