DUVALLŠA hit and run driver smashed into a power pole at the intersection of NE 124th and SR 203 the night of Aug. 14, leaving 65 customers south of Duvall in the dark for 10 hours.
According to Roger Thompson, Puget Sound Energy spokesman, the unknown vehicle split the pole, but did not knock it down. Enough damage was done, however, that it had to be replaced. A power line came down as well, he said.
Thompson said the report of the power outage came in about 10 p.m. Power was restored to the customers at about 8 a.m.
Thompson said he was surprised that a vehicle could do so much damage and still be in driveable condition. "It might have been a pretty big truck with big bumpers," he said.
