Calves beaten on Monroe farm
MONROE Ñ According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's office, a Monroe man has been arrested following the fatal beating of calves at a local dairy farm.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the Werkhoven dairy farm at 7:30 a.m. last Thursday to investigate the deaths of 15 calves and injuries to 18 others.
Each of the cows, according to the deputies, suffered from a blunt trauma to the head.
A 19-year-old man, who reportedly lived across the street from the farm, was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of animal cruelty and burglary. He was being held on $260,000 bail.
