Orchid Society Fall Show and Sale
The Northwest Orchid Society will host a show and sale on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15, at the Tukwila Community Center. This American Orchid Society-judged event will feature displays of rare and unusual blooming orchids as well as orchids that are suitable for growing in the home.
Northwest Orchid Society members and growers will be on hand to share tips and expertise. Among the growers will be Baker and Chantry of Woodinville.
Show hours are 12:30-5 p.m. on Saturday with the sales area opening at 9 a.m.. and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $3. The Tukwila Community Center is located at 12424 42nd Ave. S. in Tukwila, north of I-5 and east of the Duwamish River. Directions may also be found at http://nwos.org/.
The Northwest Orchid Society meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of every month from September through July at the Center for Urban Horticulture (University of Washington: 3501 NE 41st St., Seattle).
Meetings are free and the public is welcome. Meetings usually feature a speaker and slide show on orchid-related topics, a display of blooming orchids and a small sale.
