Read becomes Eagle Scout

Curtis Read of Woodinville received his Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor held at the Cottage Lake building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Aug. 15. Read graduated in June from Woodinville High School where he received the German Student of the Year Award, the Washington State Honors Award and the National Merit Commended Scholar Award.
He will be attending Brigham Young University in the fall. He is the son of Brian and Louise Read of Woodinville and is a member of Troop 525 sponsored by the Woodinville 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
During his scouting experience, Curtis had the opportunity to participate in many events, including climbing Mt. Adams, as well as numerous camps and service projects.
For his Eagle project, Curtis erected a 40-foot flagpole in front of the Cottage Lake Chapel of the LDS church.
This entailed obtaining the appropriate approvals, raising the necessary funds, pouring the concrete for the base, organizing volunteer help and assembling and erecting the pole.
